As we know UN has announced 2008 year - the year of POTATOES, so let's make this year creative!

The project will help you to learn more about your own culture and to learn interesting facts about other countries.

Aim of the project: intercultural communication with the help of art.

Here are the steps of the project

1. dish
- research your traditional dishes which include potatoes
- choose 5 dishes per team (max. 5 children in a team)
- translate the recipe of the dishes into English
- save the text in MSWord
- choose the picture from the Internet for the dish or take a picture of the dish, or paint one
- put the picture into the Word document, name it and save
- send the document to projects_by@yahoo.com
- send the digital pictures of the participants with the names (including children and the teacher) to projects_by@yahoo.com
- you can try to cook one of the dishes together and take pictures of the process and send them with the names to projects_by@yahoo.com

2. art
- children can make a poster of your country (including ornaments, places of interests, traditional things etc.)
- poster can be digital, painted or with the help of collage technique
- main thing in the poster is potatoes:-)
- try to imagine potato character and include it into the poster
- poster should include the slogan about your culture, your emotions and you thoughts
- send the posters or paintings (for small kids) to projects_by@yahoo.com (max. 1 Mb)

Results!

- Big posters will be printed, containing best artworks. The posters will be sent to the participating schools.
- Book with the POTATOES recipes from different cultures (with your artworks) will be created
- Online or face-to-face meeting with all the participants
